RhymeHamster
You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don’t need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don’t need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free
Written by Paul Simon.

Why it works
The trick: the advice ends on a word, and the very next word is a name that rhymes with it. Back, Jack. Plan, Stan.
No waiting for the next line. The rhyme pays off before you can blink, five times in a row.
(Of course, Simon fudged the rhyme a bit on “discuss much,” but we’ll let that slide.)

And one more thing
True story: Simon wrote the chorus while teaching his three-year-old son, Harper, how to rhyme.
It became his only No. 1 hit as a solo artist. He called it “a fluke hit that I slipped into by accident.”
